We’re in the Red!

And we want you to join us! 2013 marks the 10th year of Wear Red Day where on the first Friday in February millions of men and women come together to raise awareness about heart disease by wearing red.

Created by the American Heart Association, along with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, this day is recognized across the country as an annual reminder of the risk of heart disease, especially for women.

And their effort is working! Since 2003:

  •  21% fewer women are dying from heart disease
  • 23% more women are aware that it's their No. 1 health threat
  • Publishing of gender-specific results, established differences in symptoms and responses to medications and women-specific guidelines for prevention and treatment
  • Development of legislation to help end gender disparities

But this is only the beginning! Help us add to the awareness effort by wearing red today, and learning more about this great cause and the disease that inspired it.
